Müller Martini (Hauppauge, NY) has agreed to participate in PrintCity's “Print Factory” project at Drupa 2004. PrintCity is a strategic alliance of more than 40 suppliers to the print industry. Müller Martini will contribute saddlestitching systems and finishing skills to the Web Factory, which will be run by PrintCity's Web Systems Activity Group as part of the overall Print Factory. The Web Factory will feature a number of traditional and digital web and newspaper presses, and will be producing a variety of magazines, brochures and newspapers.
Every part of the workflow will be JDF-enabled. “Drupa comes along only every four years, so it's vital to show the systems and techniques that are the future for many print companies,” says Larry Lampert, chairman of the Web Systems Activity Group. “Our duty is not only to create a real factory environment using the skills of PrintCity members and partners, it is also to look beyond current practice and create the factory of 2008 — the factory that will last until the next Drupa and further.”
Müller Martini will, in addition to providing equipment for PrintCity's Print Factory, maintain an independent presence at Drupa.
