Continuing its commitment to environmental responsibility, RockTenn (Norcross, GA) announces its Specialty Paperboard Products mill in Aurora, IL, has received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification. This certification provides third-party validation of the mill’s sustainable fiber sourcing practices.

“For decades, the Aurora mill has been an environmentally responsible manufacturer, producing products made from 100% recycled paperboard. In addition to our regular Red Label grades, we also produce a Red Label product made from 100% post-consumer recycled content,” says Dick Steed, executive vice president, Specialty Paperboard Products division. “FSC certification gives our customers assurance that the products we supply meet stringent environmental standards. We will continue to do what is right for our customers, as well as the environment.”

FSC is one of the leading non-profit, non-governmental organizations recognized globally for promoting responsible forest management. Chain of custody is the path taken by raw materials harvested from an FSC-certified source through processing, manufacturing, distribution and print until it becomes a final product ready for sale to the end consumer.

RockTenn is a member of the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance (RPA100), the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC), the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) and the National Council for Air and Stream Improvements (NCASI).
