Leading Swiss commercial printer Hess Druck AG has purchased its fifth Vision web offset press. This week, DG press MachineS’ engineers have finished installation and the press has been taken into production.

The 8 color Vision with a 520mm web width has been installed with non-stop unwinder, UV curing and is ready for production from reel to reel and reel to sheet.

Remarkable, is that DG press MachineS has received another order for a Vision web offset press. Offsetdruckerei Arenz from Germany has placed an order for a 10 color press for reel to sheet production of specialty labels. Chosen is for a press with a 650 mm web width, which also allows for three stream A4 production.

Peter Kloppers, director of DG press MachineS, said: ‘These two recent orders is an indication to us that the market has increasing confidence in us to deliver new high-quality web offset presses. We see this as a confirmation that our new development of the Thallo for package printing will also turn out as a success.’

About DG press Machines
DG press Machines builds web offset printing machines from 1 to 12 colours for various market applications such as commercial printing, security printing and label printing. DGpM recently announced developments of the Thallo, a new web offset press for package printing using innovative offset sleeve technology.

The development of the Thallo holds key innovations to address the challenges and limitations that hold back mainstream use of web offset by package printers. “We look forward to showcasing a concept printing deck at LabelExpo 2013 in Brussels and continue the dialogue with the market.”The sleeve technology in offset, pioneered by Drent Goebel ten years ago allows you to work with variable sizes in offset.

The sleeve technology lets you easily change sizes without having to completely change the unit or cassette; a very cost-effective way of printing different repeat lengths. The Thallo combines sleeve offset technology with the right price/performance ratio and rectifies a technology switch for the current flexo and rotogravure package printers.

DG press MachineS holds the critical engineers that were responsible for the development of this technology and has started developments of a next generation press in the range of 520 – 850 – 1050 webwidth.
