Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. (Elmsford, NY) is forming a new
subsidiary consisting of three recently acquired distributors. The
company has executed a definitive merger agreement with PrimeSource
Corp. (Pennsauken, NJ), and is signing agreements to purchase
Heartland Imaging (Kansas City, KS) and Graphic Systems, Inc.
(Minneapolis). Fujifilm did not disclose the acquisition terms of
these two latter distributors, which are both privately held.
The three companies, which are the largest Fujifilm dealers, will be united in one national distribution company to serve the U.S. graphic arts market. It will reportedly provide products from a range of manufacturers, some of which compete with Fujifilm. The new company, the name of which has not yet been released, will serve the same customer base served previously by the three former distributors--commercial printers, trade shops, packaging printers, newspapers and other major segments of the printing and publishing industry.
