Océ N.V. (Poing, Germany), a supplier of professional document systems, has entered into a worldwide agreement to license ColorTune OEM color and screening technology from Agfa Monotype (Wilmington, MA), a worldwide developer of color and font technologies. The technology will allow Océ to effectively expand its color offerings in high-volume printing products.

"At Océ, future high-volume printing developments will concentrate on full color, spot color and the improvement of grayscale reproduction," says Peter Feldweg, CEO of Océ. "Agfa is one of the leading companies in the field of color imaging and holds numerous patents in this area. We wish to benefit from this experience within our controller products in color and monochrome printing systems."

Agfa Monotype's ColorTune tool kits have been developed to answer the growing need for OEMs to produce high-quality, color-enabled devices as rapidly as possible, within the OEM's own lab environment. Two kits are available: the ColorTune Color Tool Kit and the ColorTune Screening Tool Kit. The ColorTune Screening Tool Kit allows engineers to design halftone screens without constraints on angles or frequencies. The ColorTune Color Tool Kit contains software to create, edit, preview and optimize manufacturer color device profiles.
